Welcome to Coronita Elementary School -- home of the Bulldogs!
Helping students develop a strong foundation of academic skills and strategies that they build on throughout their school careers is a cornerstone of our educational program. In addition, our focus on helping students build strong values, social skills and resilience will solidify this foundation.
Continuous improvement in academic achievement is a primary focus for Coronita’s staff and students. Many intervention programs have been put in place in order to support student learning. Expanding Learning our after school program is available for many students this year. After school students receive additional reading and math instruction, help with homework, computer assisted learning and enrichment activities.
Within the school day students are provided with a standards-based instructional programs. All staff members have received on-going research based staff development in the area of reading and math instruction. Students are assessed every eight weeks and are placed in groups based on their instructional levels. Along with Reading and Math, all students are taught Step Up to Writing strategies. Students use these strategies as they write in all curricular areas. In addition families are always encouraged to be involved in their child's education.
